We make no secret of the fact that family groups are our main priority, and to this extent we make sure the designated family areas are what they say. The site is enclosed and the inner security fencing means that everyone (especially children) is safe and usually within the sight of the security office and the large amount of stewards and security officers we have on duty over the weekend.

The free activities start from the moment you arrive and finish when we close on the Sunday teatime. Our usual top quality live entertainment includes Punch & Judy Shows, Little Steff's Musical Storytime, we have free tennis, football and golf coaching and the most popular of all 'Farmer Tom's' Haystack. The arts and crafts Marquee is available throughout the weekend and we have children's discos on the Friday and Saturday evenings. If this is not enough to keep the kids happy they can always use some of their hard earned spending money on other activities including the bouncy castle, slides, bunjees, quad bikes, waterbalz, climbing walls, zorb footballs and the big wheel to name but a few.

As a family there will also be other events to either watch or take part in. The tug-of-war is always good for a laugh, and for fun this year we are going to try having a fun dog show. For the mums there will be a short fashion show where local businesses will be demonstrating what clothing and jewellry they have on offer. For the dads we have lots of beer on sale and usually some nice warm sunshine to relax in whilst the wife and kids are busy with all the activities.

For the more energetic mums and dads we have a new concept for 2017 as we introduce our Northern Soul Dance Stage. Dance away to some classic Northern Soul as the vinyl makes its first appearance at Staxtonbury!

Described by NME as "... with a varied line-up from folk to hard rock, Staxtonbury is easily North Yorkshire's most notable musical event"
